Senegal

1 – Foundation of the association "Ermanos Thioune"

After Nasoblu´s first contact as Sea Courier in Senegal, they decided to create a new structure to inform us about projects that could need our help, and most of all to support the Sea Couriers with the logistic.
The "Thioune Brothers" have already supported our first expedition and will create an official association with volunteers.
This association will be of great help for our further expeditions and will ensure us a continuous development in a country in witch the concept of voluntary service is not very widespread.

2 - Project "MULTIMEDIA SOLIDARITY"

A project to transport computers from Europe.
These computers will go to this association to organize multimedia courses for young people. They will also collect funds to buy computers directly at a computers manufacturer in Dakar. A little gesture to boost the continuous development of an existing local reality.

Brasil

1 - Project "CULTURAL SCHOOL"

For children from the Marechal Rondon area.
The comunity of Marechal Rondon is a very poor area near the favelas of the northwestern of Salvador. This children, as many other children living in Salvador, have a big chance to become street boys.
Ras Ednaldo Sa’ s project wants to create a Cultural School for those children to give them the opportunity, after school, to learn music, capoheira, handicrafts, languages, theater…
The Sea Couriers have join this project and helped them with voluntary instructors in Salvador to open this school in June 2006. The next aim of the Sea Couriers is to bring them school materials and volunteers from Europe

We need:

1. school materials

2. sailboats going to this area for transport

3. people that would like to help during their holidays becoming teachers at this school a few hours a week.

2 - Project  "FREE VOICE FOR CULTURE"

Ras Ednaldo Sa has another project in mind. He wants to create a FM radio station to broadcast free cultural information in the historical centre of Salvador, a city with many poor areas and favelas, despite having been restored recently.
Ednaldo Sa lives in "Roçiña", a favela right in the town centre of Salvador.
Roçiña is a favela right in the town centre of Salvador with a beautiful view on Todos os Santos’ s Bay.
In this favela live 40 families with many problems. They are not considered as inhabitants of this area, are submitted to constant abuses, have as good as no public services, and have to deal with the military police that is constantly controlling the area for drugs.
This project wants to set up a free radio station for culture and information, that wants to become the free voice of these 40 families and of everybody.
The Sea Couriers try to get the necessary hardware to the launch of this voice.

3 - Progetto "CANTO ECOLOGICO"

Canto Ecologico è un iniziativa di Gabriela Feijó e Carlos Canelhas. Carlos e Gaby vivono a Cacha Pregos, una piccolo villaggio sull’estremita sud dell’isola di Itaparica (Salvador de Bahia – Brasile).
Carlos è portoghese Gaby brasiliana, dopo molti anni vissuti in Portogallo lavorando e militando attivamente in varie associazioni ecologiche si sono trasferiti in questo piccolo villaggio del brasile portando con loro la volontà di continuare a lavorare in favore della protezione dell’ambiente.
Sono sicuramente convinti che per proteggere l’ambiente la prima cosa da fare sia sensibilizzare chi vive nell’ambiente stesso e per primi sensibilizzare i bambini, in quanto futuri fruitori dell’ambiente in cui vivono.
Gaby e Carlos oltre a molte iniziative di sensibilizzazione e di denuncia verso i vari abusi contro l’ambiente, hanno costituito nella loro abitazione una biblioteca per bambini ed adulti.
Una biblioteca sempre aperta dove molti bambini vanno a fare ricerche per la scuola e ad informarsi su problemi ecologici, dove possono passare il tempo libero guardando video educativi, o imparando a fare fogli di carta riciclata.
Una biblioteca costituita dai libri Di Gaby e Carlos che sono stati messi a disposizione.
Canto Ecologico conta circa 250 bambini che usufruiscono della biblioteca.
Attraverso i contatti in Portogallo di Carlos e Gaby stiamo cercando nuovi libri e materiale visivo in lingua portoghese da trasportare a mezzo Corrieri fino a qua.
Ci sarà quindi materiale in deposito a Las Palmas da trasportare in Brasile!!
Ma Canto Ecologico non .è solo una biblioteca è un organizzazione che lotta contro gli abusi all’ambiente.
I due principali argomenti di cui si occupa Canto Ecologico sono la pesca con le bombe, che è molto diffusa sull’isola, e lo sfruttamento abusivo e la distruzione della foresta di mangrovia.
La sola presenza di imbarcazioni in questo splendido ancoraggio e lo scambio di idee con queste splendide persone e con i bambini possono essere una forma di aiuto ed una forma per noi di fare un turismo più responsabile.
